OFFER

“Offer slave!!” The slave strains to offer. You can only read so many author's proposals in one sitting, even if they're all talking about sex. i managed to get through 11 proposals, including reading through blog entries if their queries included links. i think i'm done for now.

Next on the agenda: cleaning, then polishing Master's manuscript.

I don't know about you, but I've been feeling overwhelmed by the wealth of new tv series to watch this fall. I finally figured out what my TV schedule would be and I'd figured you'd benefit from my hard work. So...

Monday

9pm - (NBC) Heroes

I make sure to be home in time for this show because it's absolutely amazing. I'm not sure if it will survive past this season b/c the premise may get old, but for now it works for me. It's about a group of people all over the country, and one random guy in Japan (actually, named Hiro..hehe), who discover separately that they have superpowers. And of course, since they're superheros there is some imminent doom on the horizon. The show manages to unveil each of their stories in a non-hoaky way, except for Hiro's storyline but that's alright since I suspect he's there for comic relief. And boy does this show need it, in the last episode, the invincible cheerleader gets killed, yet again, but this time by a highschool boy who's trying to rape her. At the end of the episode her invincible-ness finally kicks in and she wakes up on a table with her ribs hanging out. Yeah...really!! Turns out you can see episodes of NBC shows on NBC.com so do some catch up so we can chat about the next episode this coming Monday.

10pm - (Showtime) Weeds

If you have premium cable, this is what you should be watching. No judgement if you're not, but don't blame me when all the cool people gather around the coolest girl's desk at work to dish about the latest drama on Weeds and you have no idea what they're talking about. I think the show started last year and they are now on Season 2 (correct me if I'm wrong). Weeds follows the exploits of a suburban housewife who decides to sell weed to support her family after her husband dies. This season she decides to grow her own weed, take on Albanian dealers, challenge her old supplier and marry a DEA agent. Most entertaining moment: watching her brother-in-law's face when he realizes the thick dildo his new fling is pulling out is for him.

10pm - (NBC) Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

I haven't managed to watch more than 30 minutes of Studio 60 this season, but I loved what I saw enough to think about it wistfully everytime I change the channel to Showtime. The show follows the story of the re-instated producers of the SNL-like Studio 60. It stars Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford as the producers. I loved those guys when they were on West Wing and they're even better now. Matt Perry has completely made it out of his Chandler character (but a third show on NBC...is he their bitch?). Hmmm, can't say much more, but wish I could. If you end up watching this, lemme know if it's as good as those 30 minutes made it seem.

Tuesday/Wednesday

Tuesday is A. and I's date night so I have no idea what's on, much less what's worth watching. And I usually don't make it to the TV on Wednesday either. but on ....

Thursday

9pm - (ABC) Grey's Anatomy

Bringing us the slutty side of medicine since 2005, Grey's Anatomy is now in its 3rd season. I'm pretty sure by this season tthe writers have completely forgotten that their characters are also doctors but we weren't watching to learn about life as a surgical intern anyway. We have more realistic shows like ER and Scrubs for that. In any case, Meredith is now dating both McDreamy and McVet, which takes away from some of the early tension from the first two seasons where she was the other woman and we all wondered if Derrick would ever choose her. If slut-tastic dramas are not your thing, watch the show for its soundtrack. Everytime I watch an episode I catch myself frantically Googling the lyrics for some song and downloading it on iTunes. Previously on the edge of mainstream bands like The Fray and Snow Patrol made it solidly into pop and the top of every relevant chart alive after their songs played on Grey's episodes (and on the ubiquitous ads for the new season). My new fave character(s) are Christina, played by Sandra Oh who I've loved for some time now, and Callie Torres, a full-figured woman of color. So fuck Meridith's indecision, my eye is on Christina's and Callie's relationships now, and yours should be too. :)

...Now you know. Below are God-des and She, the most beautiful music group I have ever seen. I got onto their bandwagon pretty late, I saw them perform "Lick It" on the season finale of L-Word and couldn't believe they were a real group. Today I saw a video for their song "Love You Better" and that cinched the deal. Even though I don' think that God-des is particularly lyrically gifted, she does have an incredibly hot persona going. She's voice is absolutely amazing and (I hate to admit that I stereotype) but is incredibly soulful for someone from the Midwest. Plus, she's also amazingly hot. Not that that should help you decide who/what to listen to but we should all support talented women who are challenging mainstream beauty standards. (Wow, I managed to make my lust sound political. Score one for me!) [By the way, She is on the left.]
