Craigslist Anonymous

Hey all!  Just thought I'd point you towards [info]cl_anonymous :)  It's a new group I just made for people addicted to craigslist to show off their finds or get advice on whether or not to purchase something, if it's a good price etc.

I know there are some craigslist addicts on here and I want you to know you aren't alone! ;)

Posting yard sale/thrift store finds is totally acceptable as well!  It's more a group to showcase style on a budget.

I apologize to this community for my shameless self promotion. ;)

Dining Room help

My boyfriend and I love retro stuff and we have been searching around for a decent price on an old formica dining table and chairs.  But i haven't had much luck on craigslist.

Anyway, a friend of mine is getting rid of this table

I think it's old IKEA.  I like the curve of it, but we really have our hearts set on a more 50's look.  Any ideas on how to alter it to make it look more retro?  Good chairs to go with it?

Any suggestions or inspirational pics of retro dining rooms appreciated!

Thanks in advance! ^_^

Hello there!
I just moved into a house, three rooms+kitchen and Im kind of renovating it now. The bedroom is almost finished and I don't really need any help with that. The room that bothers me rioght now is the livingroom.

I still have to paint the rest of the walls, and uh, clean maybe. And take away the mattress that shoulldn't even be in here. :D And change the curtains. HOWEVER, I would like to have som feedback, and ideas how I could place my furniture better. I have two chairs, that are being re-clothed right now, and as they are almost as big as the other two and I don't want to seperate myself from any of them, I wonder what I should do. I don't really want it to be too cluttered.

One more question for good measure...

I just snagged this great painting on E-Bay for 21 bucks.  It isn't stretched, from what I can tell, so I'm going to frame it.

Where can I find neat frames for my 16x20 painting?  Ideally, nothing over $65 or so, but I'm negotiable if the frame is amazing.  (Craigslist and the like for my area tend to be empty, so that's out.)

Thanks, guys!

The New Bra Mecca of Edinburgh

I recently took a trip to the UK, beginning in Scotland, and ending up in London. Along the way, I looked at what was on offer at bra retailers—some of them old favorites, some of them brand new. First up is the new Bravissimo location in Edinburgh, on Multrees Walk.

Saucy tiny bathrooms?

Hi everyone!  Boyfriend and I are moving into a new apartment.  Overall, it's much bigger, minus the bathroom!

I'm a MAC addict, so I have RIDICULOUS amounts of makeup spilling all over the place.  I also have hair that hits my arse, so much like makeup, I have hair care products spilling all over the place as well.  I'd really prefer to keep this stuff in the bathroom, as it's definitely most convenient for me.  I'm both a full time student & worker, so I lack a lot of time in the mornings.  The bathroom sink is very tiny, and the cabinet underneath it can barely house my boyfriend's crap, let alone mine.

Any saucy storage solutions for little bathrooms?

Thanks!

Eightfold Path: Right Livelihood

i realized a skipped a "fold" in the path, so i submit to you right livelihood:

"Right Livelihood

Often when one begins practicing the ways of Peace, a time comes when lifestyle must be evaluated. In this life, we have the opportunity to liberate ourselves from the cycle of suffering and find peace. We also have the opportunity to help others break free. Does one's way of life support or hinder the ways of Peace? Only the heart knows. "

i'd like to begin by looking at this from an all encompassing place. All of us...sub/slave or Free have the ability for enlightenment, for finding and living our Truest life. As we walk upon this journey we will come to a place where we must decide if the occupation we are in is the truest expression of who we are. If it is feeding our core self or if it is indeed a detrement to our own sense of Peace and Fulfillment. If it is a hinderance we'll then have to decide how to right this wrong against our Spirit. What is the correct path? When is the correct time? This is where the law of attraction can come into play. We can begin to attract the job or position to us that will enable us to live most Authentically, simply by focusing our attention and belief upon it.

How can this apply to slavery? Being a slave we should first find out our Owners will and Vision concerning our enslavement and what type of demands that might make on our time and make a choice of employment based upon that. In some dynamics career choices are left entirely up to the slave to do as he or she sees fit. In other dynamic this area is totally under the Masters control and direction and should be treated as such.Ultimately this comes down to the dictates of your dynamic. i suggest if one is contemplating a change of occupation or a change of employer that one take into consideration the effect of the work arrangment on the M/s dynamic. i know Masters and slaves who have not accepted certain employment due to it's effect on their dynamic. This is no different in my estimation than taking into consideration how one's employment might effect one's children. Those relationships that are important in our lives should not be minimized but must benurtured and cared for no matter the situation.

I will probably cross-post this but i'm doing my room 70's inspired and i'm having trouble finding bedding. Three of my walls are this cream color and the other one is blue. Does anyone know anywhere I could find 70s inspired bedding or any ideas on driving the look home? :)

Picspam from other people (of me)

So this weekend at Readercon, someone took a picture of me at one point (maybe it was me and Ellen Datlow? -- I'd gone to her Kaffeeklatsch as a fan, first time I'd gone to one in like 10 years, and it was very affirming to hear everything she had to say about life ,the universe, and editing) and when I asked if he'd send me the photo, he said it'd be up on Flickr.

Of course... now I've forgotten who took the photo, but I looked on FLickr. The picture isn't there, but I found, surprise surprise, all these OTHER photos people have taken of me at cons dating back to like 2002.

So here they are:

under the cut, of course )

creativity

yesterday i brought my third puppy in a year home (i work for a vet, so this has become a pretty regular thing). my problem is the crates. the black, wire ones.

i'm not really looking for a way to hide them, because i think it's impossible, just make them look nicer. they're in my bedroom, & right now are all beside eachother. i have a small, medium, & large, if that gives any ideas.
